Video Opera in IV acts
A is a street vendor on a remote beach, far from the city. She waits for her beloved, who is on her way. A van driven by J, a tourist guide, arrives at the resort. A, full of anticipation, watches as the excited tourists rush toward the sand. Her beloved does not appear. Disappointed, A walks away along the shore. In a wild corner, she ceases to be human.
J needs speed to feel well: she presses the van’s accelerator harder and harder. She crashes. In that impact, her strength, as she had known it, begins to fall apart.
In the city, F works at a gym equipment shop and is also a poet. He writes, hesitates, crosses things out, closes his notebook. Overwhelmed by his lack of conviction, he begins to receive strange visits at the shop that will ultimately push him to choose his new path.
The Contraction of Waiting is an audiovisual opera in four acts about A, J, and F: three stories that intertwine, where crossing paths transforms their destinies.
